Welcome to Careersmiths.
We help people and organisations build their ability to create career wellbeing
to write their own narrative.
There are a number of components that, together, build our ability to create career wellbeing - those feelings of being satisfied and fulfilled in our work.
We help people gain deep personal clarity, understand, develop and harness their high value skills and teach them how to impactfully tell their unique career story – so they can design, create, change, be agile and open to opportunity in their career (and life). This means they can intentionally employ these components to create greater career wellbeing.
We help organisations identify and maximise the skills already present in their workforce that may be underutilised. As well as partnering on how to develop a flexible, adaptable, engaged and valued workforce - more future ready and able to navigate challenges, take opportunities and contribute to longer term success - their own and the organisation's. Building individual and collective career wellbeing.
career wellbeing in the continuously changing world of work
Emerging technologies, industries and shifting economic , social and climate landscapes are the new normal. Change and uncertainty are a constant for all of us and career education and career management practices need to embrace this.
Careersmiths bring a fresh, human-centred approach to the career space. Our objective is to help people not only navigate but thrive in the ever evolving world of work. We focus on career wellbeing by empowering you with the skills, insights and strategies needed to design and create meaningful study and career directions.
Skills, not jobs, are the currency of the future.
We believe that career wellbeing improves when people feel equipped to manage their study and career – and that transferable skills are central to this. Often still referred to as soft skills, they are anything but. Understanding your transferable skills and building the agency to develop, communicate and apply them will underpin your ability to be able to adapt to and have greater choice in the changing world of work. Transferable skills will power your ability to transfer across roles, industries and careers. Our philosophy is to encourage you to take an active and intentional approach to shaping your career, rather than following a predetermined or traditional path. That is - to write your own narrative.
How we work
Careersmiths was born from the desire to bring an approach to the career space that would help people develop the skills and confidence to be able to write their own narrative. From our work in education, careers, recruitment and HR, across a wide range of demographics and industries, we saw common themes emerging – a desire to feel more capable and equipped in crafting work that meets personal and lifestyle wants and needs. To achieve greater career wellbeing.
Our workshops and coaching sessions are interactive, engaging and filled with pragmatism and positivity. We help you understand your transferable skills, how to present and promote the value of them by telling your unique story and how they link with who you are - your experience, accomplishments, interests, values and strengths. As we engage in conversation, exploration and learning, we will help you gain greater personal clarity around what is meaningful for you, how to be opportunity ready and develop the confidence to take action...

Schools
Understanding the future world of work and how to navigate continuous change will be crucial for our young people. Grasping the power and place of transferable/human skills and capabilities as well as being able to identify, build and communicate their own skills will be a critical skill in itself.
We bring our extensive industry experience together with career education to connect the classroom to the world of work and build future readiness. Our student workshops are mapped to the Australian Blueprint for Career Development and are engaging and practical with tangible outcomes. They build understanding of the future work landscape, the role of skills and capabilities, particularly those that transfer, and develop students abilities to be able to identify, strategically build and communicate the value of their skills and capabilities so they feel greater agency to make decisions and manage their career. Students also make more meaningful connections between the classroom, career and work futures, which builds their engagement and investment in their learning.
Organisations - small business, corporate and NFP's
The world of work continues to change and the way people are approaching their careers is evolving with it. In the past 12 months* 1.3 million people changed jobs, meaning 10% of the workforce was on the move – the highest figures in a decade. These changes and challenges have put significant cost, engagement and resourcing pressure on business. Those organisations that are staying ahead and becoming employers of choice are utilising the transferable skills within their workforce to better value and retain talent.
Transferable skills are the backbone of a resilient and adaptable workforce, enhancing the ability to adjust to changes in technology, industry trends and business strategies. . It is crucial for employees to possess not only specialised technical skills but also a robust set of transferable skills. Employees who can quickly pivot and apply their transferable skills to new opportunities, challenges or role demands contribute significantly to organisational effectiveness.
Our workshops address the transferable skills in demand now and also those necessary for the future. As technology continues to advance, specific technical skills may become obsolete or less relevant. Transferable skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and leadership are enduring and can be applied across a multitude of contexts. For organisations, this work is both an investment in your employees individual development AND, additionally, builds the resilience and capital of your organisation by developing a pool of employees who are not only competent in their current roles but are also adaptable, flexible, and capable of continuous learning and growth. This provides your organisation with a more equipped workforce. This skills rather than roles focus promotes the career wellbeing of your employees - and, thus, the wellbeing of your organisation.
We understand that every business is unique. Our workshops are tailored to address specific goals and challenges for organisations across the Not for Profit and Corporate business landscape. We provide practical tools and techniques that participants can apply immediately. By equipping your team with the skills, knowledge and mindsets you invest both in them and their engagement, and they become an even more invaluable asset, ready to navigate opportunity and challenge in their work.
